MALMS Static has been developed as an important extension to MALMS Mobile, and provides the capability for additional photometric testing in a number of key areas. Its application includes the measurement of AGL fittings on services that are off the paved area (i.e. threshold wing bars), or where the beam is not on the axis of the runway / taxiway (i.e. stop bars), and so cannot be driven past in the normal manner. It can be used to measure services that comprise of flashing lights (runway guard lights). MALMS Static also enables the undertaking of diagnostic work or alignment adjustment to individual fittings, including those that are typically included on a MALMS Mobile inspection courses.

MALMS Static provides the extra components required to enable a standard Light Array from MALMS Mobile, removed from the trailer, to undertake photometric measurements statically. This includes specially designed detachable stands that hold the light array in front of the variety AGL fitting that may need to be measured. Additional cabling provides for connection to the MALMS Mobile trailer, and a software upgrade package allows the use of the Mobile Data Logger/Touch Screen system in a static mode. Testing results can then be reviewed in the standard manner on the Data Logger and stored and analysed in MALMS Office.
